What we collect
- Account information — name, email address and optional phone number, used to run your driver account and contact you about it.
- User content — terminal status reports, terminal submissions, classified advertisements and content reports you send.
- Coarse device location — processed on your device only, while the app is open, to recognize arrival at a listed terminal.
- Diagnostics — basic crash and error logs.
We do not sell driver data, do not use it for advertising or tracking, and do not share it with data brokers.
Saved terminal PINs
If you choose to save a terminal PIN, it is encrypted on your device with a non-exportable device key. Access is gated by Face ID, fingerprint, or your device screen lock. Gas & Smoke does not upload the PIN or its plaintext encryption key to our servers. Saved PINs do not sync between devices and are removed if you clear this site’s browser data.
Location permission
Location access is optional. It is used only to recognize when you arrive at a listed terminal so the app can ask you for a status update. Location is not stored on our servers, not shared, and not tracked in the background. You can decline it, turn arrival prompts off in Alert settings, or revoke the permission in your device settings at any time — the rest of the app keeps working.
Notification permission
Notifications are optional and used only to tell you when a terminal you follow changes status, or when a driver requests an update. No marketing notifications are sent. You can pause all alerts, mute individual terminals, or choose which alert types you receive in Alert settings.
What is public
Terminal status reports appear publicly without your name attached. Classified advertisements show the contact details you enter on the ad, because anonymous ads are not accepted.
Objectionable content
Every driver post can be reported, and you can block any driver so their posts no longer appear for you. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours; content that breaks the Community Rules is removed and repeat offenders are suspended or permanently blocked.
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account and personal data at any time from Driver Account → Delete account. Deletion removes your login, profile, block list and private content reports immediately. Public terminal-status history remains available but is permanently disconnected from your identity. You may also request deletion by emailing gasandsmokeapp@yahoo.com.
Children
Gas & Smoke is intended for commercial propane and NH3 transportation professionals and is not directed to children under 13.
